Great Book!, June 20, 2008

The book, 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad,' is a simplified version on the subject of financial literacy. This financial book was self-published by Robert Kiyosaki to teach practical lessons about money. Robert Kiyosaki tells a story of two metaphoric fathers and the lessons that he learned as a child from them. Initially the book summarizes the poor dad's lessons to those that we are commonly taught in traditional school systems. The lessons from the rich dad reflect the lessons that adult life teaches you after you finish a formal education. The book is purposely formulated in a manner that any elementary school age child can easily understand. The first chapter of the book summarizes the story of the two dads and the lessons learned from each. It was written to help people understand that the childhood lessons that were learned helped Robert Kiyosaki become a millionaire in his adult life. The next six chapters explain the six invaluable lessons that the rich dad taught Kiyosaki and the real life examples that formed the lessons. In the lessons are practical tips that wealthy individuals use daily in order to create various forms of income. The final chapters give advice on common mistakes that people make in life and with money that cost them the opportunity to access wealth. This book is about learning to think differently than we are taught in schools so that we can create our own wealth. In conclusion, the emphasis from both dads was to focus on education. The lesson gained involved the subjects that we learn about and how we use the information in our individual lives.
